Shannon Noll confident about torch performance

23/04/2008 10:42:00 AM.  |
Headline performer for the Olympic torch relay celebrations Shannon Noll is confident that organisers will be able to handle any protests.

While the torch's passage through Canberra on Thursday has ignited controversy, it will also set the city ablaze with entertainment.

Noll, who will perform alongside Australian music icons Brian Cadd and Russell Morris, sees the entertainment side of the relay as unrelated to the controversy surrounding the torch.

Noll's manager Nicole Hart says the performer is more concerned with pleasing the crowd at Commonwealth Park's Stage 88 on Thursday.

"Shannon's about entertaining people, he sees the protesters as a completely separate thing," she said.

The entertainment will begin on the eve of the relay, when Canberra's skyline will be lit up with fireworks to welcome the torch to Australia.
