Former AMP Ltd chief executive Andrew Mohl has been appointed as a director of Commonwealth Bank of Australia Ltd (CBA), effective July 1.
Mr Mohl was head of AMP from October 2002 until his retirement on December 31 and has been credited for turning the wealth management firm around after a failed expansion attempt in the United Kingdom.
CBA chairman John Schubert said Mr Mohl was highly regarded and had been a very successful chief executive.
"He has highly relevant experience in the management of a large and complex financial services group," Dr Schubert said.
"We look forward to his contribution to the workings of the board."
Asked in November about his future, Mr Mohl singled out serving on public company boards, advising in the financial services industry, working in public policy, philanthropy and executive coaching as five interests
