The family of Lauren Huxley says they hope her attacker gets a lengthy jail sentence.

Robert Black Farmer has been found guilty of bashing Lauren and dousing her with petrol at the family's Northmead home in November 2005.

Lauren's dad, Pat, has told 2GB’s Ray Hadley his daughter almost died and her life will never be the same.

“She spent 23 days in intensive care,” he said.

"Now in my book, for someone who’s done that to a perfectly healthy person who’s just walking the streets right now or sitting back listening to this - 23 years would be appropriate.”

There is not a gaol term long enough for such crimes.

I hope this Farmer gets life without parole, my only fear is that the justices system may go the easy on Farmer. Given the recent talkback shows demanding a tough sentence, if we are going to criticise the system would it be best after sentencing not before. Because no matter how much we say or write we all know what this coward should receive, but it is down to one person and one person alone. Before we judge the judge lets see if this legal system really works for the victim and their family.

We know there isn't any adequate justice around here but suffice to say, I'm glad this bloody mongrel got his just desserts and pays the same penalty inflicted on poor Lauren - in being set alight and rot in jail, vermin bastard! Let's hope the sentence is adequate (perish the thought) so that the Huxley family can receive some closure once and for all although maintaining the physical, psycological and emotional scars for life. Lauren looks resplendent and has recovered extremely well.

What he did is appalling. I hope he gets the maximum sentence possible. I'll be satisfied he can leave prison when he is broken.
