Elisabeth Fritzl to speak about dungeon ordeal in TV interview

20/05/2008 11:27:00 AM.  | Annika Burgess
Incest victim Elisabeth Fritzl will next week make her first public appearance, since being rescued from the dungeon where she was kept captive for 24 years.

The 42-year-old will appear on an Austrian television station on May 26, speaking to journalist Christoph Feurstein.

Feurstein interviewed Natascha Kampusch, who was also kept captive in a dungeon in Austria.

The interview is expected to be aired around the world, which will see Elisabeth earning millions in syndicated rights.

None of Elisabeth’s six children will be joining her in the interview, with many of them still recovering in hospital.

Her 19-year-old daughter Kersten remains in a coma.

Elisabeth is expected to speak openly about her ordeal, talking about the first time her father Josef, now 73-years-old, raped her.

Josef raped his daughter countless times over the 24 years, fathering her six children.

Elisabeth will tell tales about the conditions in the ‘house of horrors,’ and how Josef burned her still born baby.

Elisabeth is still adjusting to sunlight, and may be interviewed in sunglasses, due to the harsh studio lights.

Since their release just over three weeks ago, the family has been staying at Amstetten Mauer hospital.

Media from around the world have been camped outside the hospital, going to great lengths to try and snap the first pictures of the recovering family.

Security guards have caught over 17 photographers trying to sneak in wearing disguises, ranging from policemen to cleaners.

One man was even digging a hole in an attempt to enter the hospital underground.

Some hospital staff have also been trying to cash in on the Fritzl’s, with a staff member sneakily photographing the patients and offering the sacred shot for over $530,000.

Due to legalities no pictures so far have been leaked.

It is the worst I have heard and the most difficult to comprehend, understand and get over. I keep thinking that if I am struggling so much with it how in heavens name did Elisabeth cope and how is she coping. The evil, wickedness and utter selfishness of it. I wept and still weep, and each time I see young women about I think...this is what she was deprived of, what was she doing then...etc. I can cope with thousands dying due to natural disasters but I still can't cope with the cause of this.
