Austrian dungeon girl desperate to see Robbie Williams

A woman held captive in an underground dungeon by her incestuous father has woken from a medically induced coma and wants to see Robbie Williams in concert, according to her doctors.

Kerstin Fritzl, who for all of her 19 years was held captive by her father Josef Fitzel, was hospitalised in April suffering multiple organ failure.

Her admission to an Austrian hospital brought to light a macabre incest case that captured the attention of the world.

Since waking from the coma - and still on life support - Kerstin has been listening to British pop star Robbie Willams, sometimes until three in the morning, forcing doctors to stop her.

Medics are confident the young woman, who also wants to take a boat trip, will make a full recovery - although she will need psychotherapy.

Kerstin woke from her coma on April 19.

“She opened her eyes and showed emotions for the first time, we laughed and she laughed,” her doctor told AFP.

Kerstin was one of seven children born to Elisabeth Fritzl, now 42, during the 24 years she was held as a sex slave by her father Josef Fritzl, 73, in a cellar in the family home.

Three of Fritzl’s offspring remained locked up with Elisabeth in the 55-square-metre dungeon, while three others lived “normal” lives upstairs with Fritzl and his wife.

Doctors have admonished local media and asked them to respect the family’s privacy and allow them to move about freely.

“The family still can’t go out and enjoy nature. It’s especially important to the children who are locked up to go out into the nature and experience new things,” said family’s lawyer Christian Herbst said.

The two sides of the family, those who’ve a lived a normal life upstairs and those who were locked below, are still getting to know each other and learning to adapt to each other’s rhythms.

“For some a passing cloud is… a big event, the others don’t even see such things anymore.”
