Qld uses 'flashers' to entice tourists

12/06/2008 7:13:00 AM.  |
Bikini girls and beach boys have taken to the streets of Sydney and Melbourne in a unique marketing pitch to promote Queensland holidays.

Queensland Tourism Minister Desley Boyle says male and female flashers will be positioned around the cities for the next month, to lure southerners to the Sunshine State on their next getaway.

She says they'll wear overcoats, which they'll open to reveal messages advertising Queensland as a holiday destination.

If the picture above is the sort of outfit that the "flashers" will be wearing are we to assume that it's to entice men and women to fly to Qld and see nothing outside of a hotel/motel room? Breasts and bums surely can be seen in home states without the expense of an air fare. If that's all that's on offer. Doesn't appear to be much of an advertisement for that state.

Is that the best the marketing minds at Queensland Tourism can come up with? I thought they wanted to be known as the "smart state". There must be better marketing minds in the Sunshine State!
