Calls to stop people with criminal connections from profiting

14/06/2008 2:00:00 PM.  | Rhys Sain

There are calls to review Victoria’s criminal asset seizure scheme to try to prevent people from cashing on their connections to infamous and notorious characters.

The push has come as Roberta Williams declared she wanted a spot on Channel 10’s BigBrother.

Williams’ agent says Roberta is open to a lot of projects.

"We wouldn't rule anything out, but I wouldn't say there's a deal been done," Mr Hawkins, Roberta William’s agent said yesterday.

BigBrother producers have since shrugged off any such suggestion.

Meantime Tony Mokbel’s girlfriend Danielle McGuire has flown into Australia after spending two years in Greece and is tipped to make big bucks for her story.

Crime Victims Support Association president Noel McNamara says these figures shouldn’t be able to profit from crime.

"We should hear their stories, but anything they make from telling them should go back to victims," he said.

Firstly who the hell are these so called victims? and secondaly why the hell should they pay any money to them? that is the biggest load of verbal rubbish I think I've ever heard. Let me undertand this... everyone wants to hear they story yet they who haven't committed any crimes are not allowed to keep any money they're payed to tell it. What a bunch of over self rightous crap...

Here Here Joseph! So is this retard suggesting that profits should go to Judy Moran? Let the victims speak up then! Most these dogooders are nothing more than ghouls looking for a free ride on the "misfortune" bus. Why doesn't he have a go at government making profits out of the roadtoll with their ever increasing fines & cameras on every corner! We are all victims of something, at some stage! Poor old Roberta didn't ask to be thrust into the limelight! She's having a go like a good Aussie!

Another thing! I invite Mr Noel McNamara, president of the Crime Victims Support Association to answer this question personally! Does he draw a wage or any sort of entitlement from his position? I'm talking, fuel card, expense card, little perks here & there! If he is a true volanteer, he should be actively raising money for victims, not just waiting around to prey on any money that gets spun by someone who is also a victim!!! Can i have some money Mr Mcnamara? I'm a victim of your dribble!
