BB final week a ratings whimper

18/07/2008 11:31:00 AM.  | Jesse Perez

Since the announcement of the axing of long running reality series Big Brother, it seems only the die-hards are tuning in to farewell the show.

Channel 10's boning of the series has not produced the ratings spike they had hoped for, with an average of 890,000 viewers tuning in this week.

BB received a quick boost when Baywatch star Pamela Anderson joined the show - with 1.4 million viewers tuning in, but was later critiqued as a ratings stunt.

Two of five remaining housemates will be chopped this Sunday, and the final three will face the voting public on Monday - bringing the series, and the show, to a close.

Tm what has changed for viewers to watch it? People don't want to watch "tasks', waking up to have breakfast, etc. People want controversy. If the show was based on a Home 'n Away style show, such as this story is happening with this person, throw in a few dramas like, hide the treadmill & watch them interact & behave, you'd have a show. The problem with this show, F* man, Supernanny is they are packaged into a predictable format and once you get the gist of it, this generation switch off.
