Kevin Rudd has laughed off Paul Keating's accusations that he lacks a clear message and is running at the behest of "little press secretaries".
The former Labor PM told ABC’s 7:30 Report that Mr Rudd ran a risk by not taking stronger, more decisive line – especially on superannuation, which he claims should have been raised to a 15 per cent compulsory contribution by now.
But speaking on Channel Nine this morning, the current Prime Minister seemed unaffected.
“Paul’s sometimes not an entirely happy chappy and I think you can see a bit of evidence of that last night,” he said.
“Look, you know, you just cop it on the chin and keep, sort of, wandering through.”
Despite Mr Keating’s criticism of the current government yesterday, he saved most of his vitriol for former treasurer and apparent leadership aspirant Peter Costello, who he described as a ‘nong’.
