Top rating broadcaster Alan Jones won’t return to his breakfast shift on Monday as expected after doctors advised him to concentrate on his recovery from cancer surgery.
The 65-year-old underwent surgery for non-enlarged prostrate cancer on July 19. He had expected he would return four weeks later.
But doctors advised the 2GB presenter to continue his recovery.
Jones was diagnosed earlier this year with the disease which doesn’t show symptoms until it has reached a fatal stage.
Jones has long encouraged men to get regular prostrate cancer checks.
Jones’ surgery, led by Professor Phillip Stricker, was a success and doctors expect him to make a full recovery.
The radio legend will discuss late next week with doctors whether he is ready to return to work.
2GB Current Affairs Director and regular stand it Jason Morrison will continue to cover Jones’ shift until his return.
