Ellen puts Portia straight to work

20/08/2008 8:34:00 PM.  | Bang Showbiz

Ellen DeGeneres is looking forward to her new wife Portia de Rossi cooking and cleaning.

The US talk show host - who wed Portia in an intimate sunset ceremony on Saturday (16.08.08) - is delighted to have tied the knot because the former ‘Ally McBeal’ actress will now do all the chores.

Ellen joked to People magazine: "What can I say? I'm the luckiest girl in the world. She is officially off the market. No one else gets her. And now she'll cook and clean for me."

Portia, who wore a pale pink backless halterneck gown designed by Zac Posen for the ceremony, was delighted to share her special day with her closest friends and family.

The 35-year-old star said: "The love we felt from the people surrounding us, and the love we have for each other, made it the most beautiful and emotional day. It’s one that we'll never forget."

The couple, who have been dating since December 2004, exchanged handwritten vows in front of 19 guests, including Ellen's mother Betty and Portia's mother Margaret Rogers who flew in from Australia, at their home in Los Angeles.

Ellen and Portia sat on pillows during the ceremony, which was officiated by author Wayne Dyer.

Guests were treated to a vegan meal afterwards, which had been prepared by the couple’s personal chef David Silberkleit.

Ellen and Portia hired Hollywood gourmet bakery Sweet Lady Jane to create a custom-made red velvet wedding cake.

Ellen admits the pair may not have a honeymoon because she is so busy filming her talk show.

She said: "I have to get back to work, this is it."

I cannot understand why in lesiban couples, that I have seen including Ellen; that one of the indivudals must dress the in mens' clothes, and play the part of a male. Is this suppose to be sympolic, since it does not make any sense. The purpose is to avoid any similiarity to a male!

Why do they keep getting media, piddly article. SO is Ellen saying she is a man with all the male attitudes, like she/portia will clean and cook for me, but she is really a FEmale. Or is she a Female who really wants to be a male, in which case she would be a trans sexual , hummmm,I think, or is that a tri sexual, maybe he/she sexual....oh I dont know im confused, wait, who am I?, what am I?....lol....who cares.

"Guests were treated to a vegan meal afterwards, which had been prepared by the couple’s personal chef David Silberkleit". How shocking! Did they also wear PETA t-shirts after the ceremony and adopt a child from Kenya? The only thing missing from the prerequisite celebutard wedding is Ed Bagley Jr. off to the side pedaling a bike for electricity! So very far removed from reality.

Ryan, you are the one not living in reality. I hope your children realize that their father is willing to base his reality in just the way his slave holders tell him to. You are a lame excuse for a man. A real man would not condemn other people for trying to make a difference in this world. Have fun taking pills to extend your lame life.

oh well i thought it was lovely. they both looked gorgeous. i couldnt get over how green the grass was. thought it must have been digitally enhanced. it just looked so bloody green against the white. Portia wont be doing any cooking and cleaning, they have a personal chef remember, and i am sure a few cleaners as well. good on them. about time the law was brought in here too, everyone should be able to marry whomever they please whether that be male/male male/female or female/female

I'm not sure there really is such a thing as a same sex relationship as one partner always seems to assume one of the traditional roles i.e there's always a "male" and "female".

There are plenty of females that want to be males, and act like males. Just look at your nearest office.

"No one else gets her. And now she'll cook and clean for me." People, please...just Ellen's typical, sarcastic brand of humor...lighten up!

sure looks like a lot of angry people read and responded to this article. as a very wise person once said "just because you have an opinion, yours or someone elses, doesn't mean you have to share it"

nah nah, i wont share it if they dont. they put themselves in the public eye, the public will share their opinions. personally i could care less what they do, but dont go acting like a male when your female eg; suit collar and tie and the talk. besides as a female i dont know want to know, like many men dont want to know about 2 men together like husband and wife. who cares, reeeeeally. they like the publicity, so they must know it will get opinions.

Carol lyn, you really do have a problem, what is wrong with dressing in what makes you comfortable? i used to be a train driver. i had to wear mens clothes. it didnt make me a man. lots of women wear suits in todays society, power suits. I really dont think you issue is with clothes, is it?

Hummie, it seems it is only you who can crack a joke on these blogs huh. Read both of my posts, I dont care what they do or wear. I was the first to make light of the subject on here. Maybe you have the problem Hummie, I wear what I like too, and whats comfortable. If I was making any serious remark it would have been about same sex marriage. The crux of my remark was, why try to act like a man when your a woman, and No my issue wasnt with clothes, apparently you missed it.
