NRL club the Sydney Roosters, AFL side the Sydney Swans and A-League title favourites Sydney FC have joined forces in a bid to make the most of Sydney’s sizeable football fan-base.
All three teams have home games this weekend, which could have amounted to the ultimate clash of the three warring football codes.
But instead, the trio have agreed to come together.
The Roosters and Sydney FC will offer fans a single $35 ticket, which will allow entry to both the Roosters’ clash with South Sydney on Friday night and Sunday afternoon’s Sydney/Perth A-League game.
The Swans – who play Brisbane on Saturday – had also been interested in a three-way deal but were thwarted by logistical problems regarding their 20,000 members.
But the three have agreed to collaborate more often in the future.
"If the opportunity exists, we've got to take it," FC coach John Kosmina told News Limited. "It's better working together than pulling apart."
