Roosters, Swans, Sydney FC join forces

28/08/2008 9:23:00 AM.  | Dominic Brock
NRL club the Sydney Roosters, AFL side the Sydney Swans and A-League title favourites Sydney FC have joined forces in a bid to make the most of Sydney’s sizeable football fan-base.

All three teams have home games this weekend, which could have amounted to the ultimate clash of the three warring football codes.

But instead, the trio have agreed to come together.

The Roosters and Sydney FC will offer fans a single $35 ticket, which will allow entry to both the Roosters’ clash with South Sydney on Friday night and Sunday afternoon’s Sydney/Perth A-League game.

The Swans – who play Brisbane on Saturday – had also been interested in a three-way deal but were thwarted by logistical problems regarding their 20,000 members.

But the three have agreed to collaborate more often in the future.

"If the opportunity exists, we've got to take it," FC coach John Kosmina told News Limited. "It's better working together than pulling apart."

This is awesome; I applaud all the 3 codes and their administrators. We need more of this. I am certainly going to take this offer, love to see the Syd FC and the Bunnies. I will have to miss out on the Swanies. Yes we should have more of this.

If this is going to be the future then let the Sydney Swans get of their bums and move out of their comfort zone to ANZ stadium where we can have a decent size field to play the footy on. Beside when they do go out there good bad or ugky they always get 15-30,000 more than they do at SCG. Doesn t that tell you where Sydneys population is. People are not going to go to hell and back in an effort to get in and out of the SCG precint especially if they have a fair distance before and after the game
