Human remains found in Launceston drain

30/08/2008 10:30:00 AM.  |
Contractors in Launceston clearing a drain of vegetation have found human remains, police say.

They were found in a drain at Heritage Forrest at Invermay about 11.30am (AEST) on Friday, Tasmanian police said.

A formal identification has not yet been made, but police believe the person is 61-year-old Peter Francis Wells who disappeared in March this year.

Mr Wells was reported missing by his landlord on March 16 and concerns were raised for his welfare as he was on regular medication and without treatment his health was expected to deteriorate.
