Olympic hockey star Nikki Hudson has apologised after posting saucy messages on her Facebook site.
Hudson, 32, joked on the site about members of the Australians team, being “impaled” by members of the Spanish team, as well as commenting on the general calibre of male talent at the games.
"Nikki thinks the running of the bulls should be changed & we should be chased by the spainish (sic) mens hockey team,” she wrote.
"I would definately (sic) make sure I got caught and impaled!"
The Sydney gold medallist used her site to keep around 500 friends up-to-date with her highs and lows in Beijing.
"Nikki has a black eye from all the girls pushing me out of the way to get prime position by the window seeing naked Aussies in rooms across from us!!!," she wrote on August 17.
The repentant Olympian said she had no idea her site was open to public and blamed the entire incident on her sense of humour.
"Hopefully nobody is offended, I'd feel awful about that," she said. "I'm quite light-hearted and don't take myself seriously. I was having a bit of a laugh.
"I definitely wouldn't have written those quotes if I knew everybody could read it.
"I'm always so careful to ensure the sport is portrayed in the best possible way . . . we don't drink in public or silly things like that."
She apologised to the head of Hockey Australia who has said players had previously been warned about privacy and the internet.
"The organisation is disappointed that private communications has entered the public domain and players will again be counselled on this matter," its statement said.
Swimmer Stephanie Rice was similarly plagued by a Facebook controversy when racy pictures of her at a dress-up party became public in April.
