It was foodie-heaven at Sydney’s classy Ivy Bar last night as the who’s who of NSW gastronomy turned out in force to honour the state’s finest.

Seven establishments gained the highest three-hat distinction, including perennial Sydney favourite, Tetsuya’s.

But restaurant of the year went to Quay, located in The Rocks, which has also been named Gourmet Traveller’s restaurant of the year.

“The Restaurant of the Year awards mean a great deal to us. To receive one award is an honour, to receive two is just mind-blowing,” said executive chef Peter Gilmore.

“The Quay team is thrilled to have received this recognition.”

Regional restaurants to get a two-hat gong include Pokolbin’s Rock and Blackheath’s Vulcan.

Props to Rubicon in anberra for getting recognised. It's a great little restaurant that is easily missable if not familiar with Canberra. For all of the readers nationally and internationally, next time you visit Canberra, stop in at the Griffith shops for a feed at Rubicon. You won't be dissapointed!

Well, Ish, if that's true, how come we have not one Australian restaurant here in California?? We have a plethora of Mexican and Chinese food restaurants. Italian, some French, Indian and some Pakistani food. But, no Australian. What's up with that?? I can't find an English restaurant, either. But, I'll not hold you to that.

Pithed one, they forget to tell you that at places like this, ordinary folk gotta put the meal on lay by( lay away). When you finally get your meal, it looks like someone has eaten 2/3rds of ya dinner. Fair Dinkum mate, I've seen Oysters bigger than the meals that come out of some of these resturants. I get Hungry, I wanna EAT, not pick through Micro land.
