Torrential rain has delayed the start of the BMW Championship by 24 hours.
Today's scheduled first round was postponed when the remnants of Hurricane Gustav flooded the Bellerive course with nearly 100 millimetres of rain in only a few hours.
Officials have rescheduled the first round to be played tomorrow (Friday, American time) and plan to play 36 holes on Saturday to get the event back on track for a Sunday finish.
Due to the small 69-man field, there should be no problem completing 36 holes on Saturday.
"We've got a mess out there," said US Tour tournament director Slugger White.
"It may be as bad as I've seen in a long time. The course has 16 miles of drainage that's having trouble putting it anywhere."
The BMW Championship is the third of four events on the PGA Tour's FedEx Cup play-off series.
Fiji's Vijay Singh won the first two events, all but locking up the $10 million bonus awarded to the play-off winner.
Seven Australians are in this week's field - Robert Allenby, Stuart Appleby, Aaron Baddeley, Mathew Goggin, Geoff Ogilvy, Adam Scott and John Senden.
