P-platers racing at double speed limit

24/09/2008 7:55:00 AM.  | Laura Tunstall
Two P-plate drivers have lost their cars after being charged with street racing through inner Sydney.

Highway patrol officers conducting speed checks on Parramatta road at Ashfield last night spotted the two cars.

A Honda Accord and Holden Commodore were travelling side by side - police allege they clocked one of the vehicles at 122 kilometres an hour in a 60 zone.

Both vehicles stopped at a red light near Frederick Street, police pulling the cars over.

Both drivers were P-platers - young men aged 20 and 19 - they've had their licenses suspended and been charged with racing.

They'll appear in court next month and have had their vehicles confiscated.
