The post-politics package for former NSW premier Morris Iemma includes a driver for 15 months and a personal staffer for a year.
Premier Nathan Rees said once the 15-month period had expired, a car would also be made available on a case-by-case basis for Mr Iemma, if it was needed for duties associated with his former role.
"The former premier has a great many calls upon his time and requests on him to undertake engagements, for example, on behalf of charitable groups and other good causes," Mr Rees told a budget estimates committee.
"I've indicated that I would seek to come to an arrangement that was fair and reasonable for the premier and fair and reasonable for the taxpayer.
"I believe that's what we've done."
Mr Rees said Mr Iemma's entitlements were "very substantially less than those enjoyed by other former premiers".
He said Mr Iemma had accepted his entitlement package.
Mr Iemma, who resigned as premier on September 5 when his party room refused to endorse his preferred front bench, is also entitled to a lifetime pension of more than $130,000 a year, indexed to inflation.
