Controversial changes to the Medicare levy surcharge will soon be voted on in the Senate for the second time, giving tax relief to 330,000 Australians.
After passing the House of Representatives, the amended Medicare Levy Surcharge bill is now being debated in the Senate.
The Government's first attempt to pass the legislation was previously defeated, with Family First and the Coalition voting against the bill.
And, Liberal Senator Julian McGauran says he'll reject it again.
“More people are going to be hurt by this, than anyone will ever get tax relief.”
But, with the five Greens Senators and Independent Nick Xenophon voting for the bill in its previous form, it's likely the amended version will pass the Senate - with Family First's Steve Fielding now in support of the measure.
