David Duchovny and Tea Leoni have been “separated for several months”, amid claims the actress received explicit text messages from Billy Bob Thornton.

‘The X-Files’ star David – who recently completed a stint in rehab for sex addiction – is said to have decided to end the 11-year marriage after discovering the raunchy messages on Tea’s phone.

David and Tea – who have two children, nine-year-old Madelaine West and six-year-old Kyd – released a statement confirming their split yesterday.

The statement read: “In light of continuous speculation over the lives and marriage of Tea Leoni and David Duchovny, the couple has confirmed that they have in fact been separated for several months. The couple had hoped to keep this separation private for the sake of their children.”

Tea and Billy – who met while shooting new comedy movie ‘Manure’ earlier this year – are now rumoured to be romantically involved.

A source close to Tea, 42, and 53-year-old Billy, who is a musician in his own band, told website MailOnline: “Tea even helps Billy load and unload his truck.”
