Commuter chaos in Sydney as rail network closes for upgrades

25/10/2008 8:00:00 AM.  | Joel Labi
There'll be nightmares for rail commuters this morning with six major lines shut down for track work.

Services around the city, innerwest, and even as far up as Newcastle will be affected.

Transport Minister David Campbell says this was unavoidable.

“I’ve got no doubt that there will be some inconvenience for some passengers but buses have been put in place to replace these train services as is $2 million worth of important and preventative maintenance is taken.”
