Pop princess and sometime actress Kylie Minogue may return to the screen with reports a British director is going to write her into a script.
John Maybury, who recently directed Keira Knightley and Sienna Miller in The Edge of Love, is working on a new screenplay and is desperate to include Minogue.
Maybury knows Minogue after creating video installations for her concert tours. The pop princess is nearing the end of her KylieX world tour – she will perform at the Acer Arena in Sydney in December.
Minogue’s friends have been quoted in Britain’s Sunday Mirror that Kylie was “very flattered” and would “love to do it”.
But while Minogue might be thrilled the viewing public may not be given her chequered history with acting.
Cutting her teeth on Neighbours Minogue moved onto a role in The Delinquents and then in 1994 starred alongside B-Grade actor Jean-Claude Van Damme in Street Fighter.
Since she has played parts in Moulin Rouge and Doctor Who which attracted a massive 13.3 million audience in Britian – an audience size not seen on the show since 1979.
