Big Brother’s Rory charged after assault

Dread-locked Big Brother runner-up Rory Ammon has been charged after an incident where a cyclist was struck from a moving car.

But the 22-year-old denies any wrong doing after the incident which occurred in March this year before he even entered the Big Brother house on the Gold Coast.

Police revealed yesterday that the Geelong local had been charged on summons with assault in company and failure to disclose the name of the driver at the time of the incident.

Police allege that while driving in Geelong, near Melbourne, on March 29 Ammon swerved towards a 27-year-old cyclist and came within 60 cm of him.

A passenger then allegedly hung out of the car window and struck the cyclist in the lower back and buttocks.

The cyclist, a part-time tri-athlete, suffered severe bruising to his lower back and buttocks as a result.

The cyclist, a part-time tri-athlete, allegedly suffered severe bruising to his lower back and buttocks as a result.

Ammon told LIVENEWS.com.au he did not drive close to the rider on purpose.

“I went to pick up my mate's brother who I hadn’t meet before, I was bringing him back to my place, there was a cyclist not right in the bike lane he was in the road… and this guy lent out and tapped him on the arse,” said Ammon, who was pipped at the Big Brother post by Sydney grandmother Terri.

"I can't stop other people's actions. I don't see it as my fault so I can't apologise.

"My only fault is that he was in my car and apparently he is my responsibility."

“The main reason I was in trouble was because I didn’t tell the police I was driving my car because I had a bit of freak out and I didn’t’ want to ruin my chances of getting into the Big Brother house.

“All I know is he leaned out the car tapped him and I was like what the f**k.

“I haven’t seen him since and I don’t really want to, the only reason I want to speak to him is because of this whole incident, his own brother can’t find him.

“I’ve been cooperating the police to try and find him, I’d rather him here to take some of the heat off me.

In the house Ammon was disciplined by Big Brother for “bullying” squeaky-voiced housemate Travis after an incident where Travis and Alice were left in tears.

Ammon was also part of group who opened the door on Travis while he was sitting on the toilet and squirted soap in his eye – Travis was removed from the house to receive medical treatment.

The cyclist, who reported the incident and number plate to police a week later said he recognised the brickie when he saw Ammon on Big Brother this year.

He said he braced himself when he heard the car coming from behind and believed that helped him stay on his bike after impact.

“I never believed anyone would try and do something like that,” he said.

Ammon says he only briefly saw his passenger hanging out the window.

Geelong police say the cyclist was lucky to escape the incident with only bruising and that police were still looking for Ammon’s 21-year-old male passenger.

In the house Ammon was known for his "cassanova" image getting very intimate with fellow housemate Rhianna under the covers.

Ammon will appear at Geelong Magistrates’ Court on November 25.
