Cost of housing in Sydney falling

The global financial crisis has seen the cost of housing fall in Sydney.

The latest figures show the cost of buying a home has decreased in most states, with Sydney house prices down 1.8 per cent in the three months to September.

However Westpac Senior Economist Matthew Hassan says housing prices in Australia are holding up better then overseas.

“There’s a whole host of factors that work, the financial turmoil has definitely played into the housing market over the last six months."
