NSW teachers have voted unanimously in favour of a 48-hour strike, during term one of school next year.
Teachers gathered at a stop-work meeting at South Sydney Juniors League club today all greed on the proposal.
Today’s two-hour meeting left almost 2000 public schools with minimum supervision.
NSW Shadow Education Minister Andrew Stoner says while the strikes may be a pain for parents, teachers need their conditions improved.
“Well it’s a sad state of affairs in NSW that the Labor Government has sadly trashed the state budget that they can’t even offer frontline workers such as teachers a pay rise in line with the CPI (consumer price index),” Mr Stoner said.
