Australian residents exposed as members of the extreme right-wing British National Party say they are proud of their beliefs but deny they are racists.
Membership lists for the ultra-conservative group were leaked on to the internet, including the names, addresses, phone numbers and ages of 10,000 BNP members.
The party, whose hardline policies include a call for foreigners to be sent home, was thrown into chaos after children, school teachers, police, clergymen and government employees were found within the list.
Of the 10,000 members listed, 15 were based in Australia.
Many on the list were marked "discretion requested" because they were unwilling to be publicly assosciated with the controversial party.
But not Australian member Benjamin Hugh, who said he wasn't bothered to learn his details had been posted on the public domain.
"It's water off a duck's back to me," he told Fairfax today.
"I just feel a connection - like most white Australians - with Britain and my ancestry and I care deeply about the survival of the British people."
British expat 51-year-old Arthur Grice, who now lives in Brisbane, said he was proud to be assosciated with the BNP and was not intimidated by reports of members being sought out, threatened and abused in Britain.
"I've got my [membership] card in my pocket now and I'm prepared to show it to anyone that wants to see," he told Fairfax.
Grice denied he was a racist, saying he opposed open immigration policies because Britain was becoming over populated.
"We see every year 10,000 or so acres of crown land chopped down to make way for houses that a country the size of the United Kingdom shouldn't really need," he said.
"You don't put 100 people in a boat built for 20 ... this isn't a question about race, it's a question about culture."
BNP leader Nick Griffin said the list was leaked by a disgruntled former party official.
The list remains availabe for download online despite a court injunction. The file reportedly received 6 million hits within 24 hours on one site alone.
While BNP membership is not illegal, it is forbidden for some British public servants. One police officer has already been suspended after appearing on the leaked list and more suspensions are expected.
