The mother of Heath Ledger’s daughter, Michelle Williams, has spoken about her worsening grief for her former fiancé.
Speaking to Newsweek to promote her new film Wendy and Lucy, Williams broke down when asked of how she was coping with the loss of Ledger, saying that her pain is “ever changing”.
"I just wake up each day in a slightly different place—grief is like a moving river, so that's what I mean by 'it's always changing'." She said.
“It's a strange thing to say because I'm at heart an optimistic person, but I would say in some ways it just gets worse. It's just that the more time that passes, the more you miss someone. In some ways it gets worse. That's what I would say.”
The actress has received rave reviews for her dramatic performance in the film, which she filmed shortly after separating from Ledger in 2007.
"I felt vulnerable but somehow strong. No, just vulnerable. It was a strange combination of one of the greatest summers of my life and one of the most excruciating summers of my life." She recalled.
Keeping herself busy since the death of Ledger in January this year, Williams said she desired a grounded life for her and her daughter, three-year-old Matilda, when she starts school.
"I don't want to work while she's in school," Williams says. "I want her to have a routine. I want the plainest, simplest, most ordinary, habituated routine possible. I just want to know what's coming next."
