A powerful 7.0 magnitude earthquake struck early on Monday in the Sea of Okhotsk in Russia's far east, US seismologists said.
The epicentre of the temblor, which occurred at 8.02pm (2002 AEDT), was located about 300 kilometres west of of the city of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatskiy, according to the US Geological Survey.
