Holden recalls 9,000 cars

1/12/2008 12:25:35 PM.  |

Almost 9,000 Holdens sold in Australia have been recalled to fix a potential problem with the side airbag system.

Holden said there was a risk that the driver's side airbag could deploy when the car is stationary, and the driver is exiting or has exited the vehicle.

It had identified a problem where the airbag attachment within the seat assembly could allow the airbag to come away from the seat frame.

The performance of the airbag could be affected in a crash, it said.

The recall applies to 8,792 VZ vehicles sold in Australia including Executive, SV6, SS and Berlina Commodore models, the four-wheel-drive Adventra, the Crewman and the HSV Avalanche.

Holden said it was contacting vehicle owners and they would be asked to take their cars to a Holden dealer for inspection and rectification.

Hmmmmm, seems the R/D people may have slacked off. Or perhaps its the Quality controller, orpehaps it's just shoddy workmanship, either which way...It couldnt have come at a worse time eh. Suck it up Holden..Another recall, another day day in the life of Holden .. My bet is they'll take the hint to get it right in developement, after the company has folded.
