Golfer Robert Allenby is a confirmed starter for this week's Australian PGA tournament at Coolum despite the temptation to stay at home with his gravely ill mother.
Allenby's emotions spilled on to the course on Sunday, he broke down during his final round of the Australian Masters at Huntingdale when he saw his mum Sylvia, who has terminal cancer.
It had been Allenby's dream to win the tournament for his mother, until his emotions got the better of him on the 15th hole.
He had to settle for third, behind winner Rod Pampling and fellow Victorian Marcus Fraser.
But Allenby will get another chance to dedicate a performance to his mother in the PGA, which starts on Thursday.
"Rob's definitely playing up there, he's flying up there tomorrow," his manager Tony Bouffler said on Monday.
Allenby, a three-time winner of the PGA, will also play in the Australian Open starting on December 11 at Royal Sydney before returning home to spend time with family.
Bouffler said it was too early to say when Allenby would depart for the United States to resume his PGA career.
"We'll just wait and see on that," he said.
Allenby hosted a charity event at Melbourne's Woodlands Golf Course on Monday to raise money for Challenge, an organisation supporting children with cancer.
